Dear Friends,
Thank you to everyone who supported our Summer Camp Golf Outing.
As anyone who plans an outdoor event in mid-May knows, success often depends on the weather, and once again we were blessed with a beautiful day. With 30 foursomes participating and an additional 43 guests joining us for dinner, it was truly a wonderful event. We are deeply grateful for your generosity and support.
Summer Camp is now just a few weeks away—here we go again! We are looking forward to another incredible summer and to continuing our mission of making a meaningful difference in the lives of the children of Wyandanch.
Last night marked the conclusion of our PAL Soccer Clinic season. To celebrate, we distributed a brand-new soccer ball to every child who participated. We also made sure that younger siblings who were not yet old enough to join the clinic received smaller soccer balls of their own. The weather was beautiful throughout the season, and many of the players were saddened to see it come to an end.
One of the most touching moments of the evening came when the older girls asked for Sharpies so that their coaches and new friends could sign their pink-and-white soccer balls. It was a simple gesture, but it was clear how much those signatures meant to them. The balls became more than just gifts—they became treasured keepsakes and reminders of friendships formed and memories made.
Our annual Soccer BBQ will be held next Monday at the Outreach Center. Dinner will be provided for everyone, and each child will receive a medal and a photograph commemorating the season. The photos will first be displayed in the vestibule of the church before being sent home with the families.
Special thanks to Mike Ryan Sr., Mike Ryan Jr., Joanne O’Brien, Joe Gibbons III, and the Outreach Center for generously funding the purchase of 135 soccer balls and covering the expenses of the Soccer Clinic. We are also grateful to the officers of the First Precinct, whose enthusiasm and participation once again made a lasting impression on the children.
Naycha is leading our August Back-to-School Backpack and School Supply Initiative. We are still collecting supplies, and any support you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Needed items include colored pencils, large and small markers, erasers, glue sticks, covered pencil sharpeners, dividers, highlighters, and 2-inch binders.
We will distribute 410 backpacks.
Thank you, as always, for your continued generosity and commitment to the children and families we serve. None of this would be possible without you.
All good.
Joe
