Friends,
What a Monday!
First, we received 40,000 pounds — 20 pallets — of much-needed food from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: a full tractor-trailer of food. With the help of 20 missionaries, we were able to move all of the food into our containers and Outreach building using a bucket brigade. This food will help us feed the 430 families — or 1,376 people — we support each month on average.
Reworld, who always supports our efforts, came with a forklift and pallet jacks to help unload the trailer. We could not have moved this amount of food without Reworld and their great crew.
We then held our soccer clinic for more than 100 children at 6:00 PM. By the time we got to the field, the sun was out and the weather was again perfect.
Board Member Betsy Mantell sponsored the ice cream truck for the players and their younger siblings, and everyone really enjoyed five minutes of peace — just eating and enjoying their cones with sprinkles.
The season is going fast. We are off the next two weeks because of the Golf Outing next Monday and the holiday the following Monday. We have two more clinics before our Outreach BBQ on June 15th.
On the last day of the clinic, we will be giving each child a new soccer ball to take home.
I will see many of you at the Golf Outing.
All good.
Thank you,
Joe
