Dear Outreach Friends,

“Mr. Joe, can I take a sandwich and an apple home for my mother and brother?”

We maintain an ever-increasing list of children who are given food to take home — not just for nourishment, but for dignity.

“Can you take a picture of me and my sisters, so that I can send it to my dad upstate?”

On Jonathan Freiberger’s picture day, every child gets their picture taken. For this child, Jonathan took a few extra prints.

“Pizza! Pizza and ice cream with sprinkles on a pool day! What a great day!”

With us, children are allowed to be children and enjoy the simple joys of childhood.

“I love this,” said a soaking wet camper, smiling ear to ear. Children thoroughly enjoy the Outreach
backyard beach days, complete with sprinklers, water balloons, snacks, and music.

“Field Day is so much fun. I wish we could stay here forever,” said one of our balloon toss winners. This child, currently living in a shelter, spent the day laughing with friends.

“Thank you for taking us to the movies.” An air-conditioned room and fruit snacks
provide campers with a respite from the heat.

“Mr. Joe, that seagull keeps flying over me and is scaring me!” A bait fish had fallen onto her sneaker. I tossed it away and the seagull followed. “Well that was close,” she said, glancing over her shoulder the rest of the day. For many campers, the fishing trip is their first ever boat ride.

“Mr. Joe, my sneaker fell off while I was bowling and slid down the lane. Will I get in trouble?”

We remind children daily that they are safe and that it is okay to have fun.

“Mr. Joe, all the other camps left the park and we have no lines on the rides, this is so great!”

On our Adventureland trip, the day was very hot! We continuously provided bottles of water as the children ran from one ride to another! We had an amazing day at Adventureland! The weather was very hot, but that didn’t stop the fun.

And this…

“Mr. Joe, my grandma wants to know if you are married?”

2025 Summer Camp was an incredible experience for our campers, one that was filled with fun, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Since nearly 40% of our campers are homeless, living in shelters, in foster care, or being raised by grandparents, for them, camp is far more than a summer program.

Now, we need your support to make 2026 just as meaningful for the children of Wyandanch and the surrounding communities.

Our journey begins with our largest fundraiser, the Summer Camp Golf Outing.

Please help us continue this life-changing work by joining us on Monday, May 18th, as we celebrate what we have built together and support the children who need us most.

If you cannot come for golf, please join us for dinner and cocktails, where you will also enjoy live music, buy chances to win 30 high-quality raffle baskets and a 50/50 drawing (last year’s 50/50 exceeded $5,000!), and find a room filled with like-minded, generous, compassionate individuals who care deeply about our children and their future.

To continue our mission, we rely on the generosity of sponsors and are currently seeking sponsors for hats, tees, and towels or camp sponsorships to cover the cost of a camper.

In past years, the foursomes filled up quickly! If you have any questions, please give me a call.

With gratitude,

Joe
