The one true constant is change. We can all acknowledge that 2024 was a year of significant events, which impacted us all; rising inflation, fires, hurricanes, the election of a new President, the polarization of the country, and the contrasting views on so many issues beginning with immigration. I am proud to say that through it all, the Outreach Center has remained persistent, steadfast in its responsibility towards the Wyandanch community, providing food and services to those less fortunate fulfilling its primary mission of feeding, clothing and protecting the children. We are color blind as to ethnicities as we are simply here to help and this has not changed in the past 52 years!
The Gerald J. Ryan Outreach Center provides a safety net for families that are genuinely in need. In fact, two-thirds of the clients served by the Outreach Center are children. The Summer Camp, in existence for over 47 years, provides a low-cost subsidized fun camp experience to more than 100 local children, which would otherwise not be available to them. Last year, 44% of our campers were either homeless, shelter, foster or in custody of grandparents; these are the children we support and why the camp exists. Our annual golf outing is the major fundraiser for Summer Camp so help us to help these children by joining us for a fun day of golf on Monday, May 19, 2025 and also celebrate the Summer Camp’s 52nd Anniversary.
Without the support of caring individuals like you, the business community, civic groups, family donors and our dedicated staff, we would not be able to host summer camp for these underprivileged children. If you would like to sponsor golf balls, golf hats, umbrellas, towels or tees, please contact me. Last year, golf hats were sponsored by Robert Crossan’s Casa Mexico Tequila, while Mike Ryan’s Landtek Group sponsored quality golf umbrellas, and Christian Limberg’s Harbor Seafood Inc has been sponsoring items for the past 5 years. You can avail yourself of this sponsorship opportunity and use your logo or family name on these or similar type items! The 50/50 drawing is always substantial; if you would like a 50/50 book or want to mail a donation, let me know and we will mail you a self addressed envelope.

In this current economic time of rising prices, we strive to keep our price reasonable and have only passed on the increased costs billed by Indian Point.
