Friends,

Another successful summer camp ended last Friday and I offer a big thank you to all our sponsors as this year was special. We had more Shelter, Homeless, and Foster children than in years past; the mission of this camp is to care for those in need and that made this year’s camp special. On Friday, we also held the drawing for our 50/50 Summer Camp Golf Outing; you can watch the drawing at https://geraldryanoutreach.org/2022/07/29/50-50-summer-camp-raffle-winner-drawing/ and by clicking on the lower left hand “Watch on YouTube” box. To save you a click, Peggy Mahoney won the 50/50.

Tom Fiorini of Fiorini Commercial Landscape, Asphalt Paving, and Snow and Ice Management and who is also an Outreach Board Member, started a Summer Camp College Scholarship for the counselors who are entering college this year. Four of this year’s counselors who were also past campers themselves graduated High School, and are starting their college careers; they are our success stories and we are very proud of them!! Tom gave each student an unrestricted scholarship to buy the supplies they need to start college in the fall. This best exemplifies the spirit of the Outreach Center Summer Camp and our supporters.

Now that camp has ended, on Monday we started to collect and sort the school supplies for the Back-to-School Backpack Program. Over the past few weeks, the Outreach Center has been registering families and children for this Program and distribution will start the last week of August. Wyandanch High School has a policy of only allowing clear backpacks but the middle and elementary school students can still use any color backpack. This is a much-needed community service program.

Enjoy the remainder of the summer.
All good.

Joe
