The November 19th Thanksgiving distribution went very well; a big thank you to all the volunteers and donors as we could not have done this without your help! Over 300 turkeys and food baskets were distributed to those with families and 30 baskets with chickens to singles; we also home delivered 45 baskets to our seniors.
Special mention to the parishioners from St Anne’s in Garden City who have been supporting the Outreach Center and our clients for 50 years now and are part of our family. Honestly, for the past few years, we could not have distributed the amount of food we do without their support. I would be remiss if I did not mention the 50 plus turkey donations from LankTek, Babylon Rotary Club, Winter Brothers, Dr Sumeet K. Anand and Dr. Bhupinder S. Anand. Also, the West Hollow Middle School and St John the Baptist DHS High School for their food drives that benefited the Outreach as well!
In other news, the Turkish Cultural Center hosted a food truck that came to the Church parking lot and distributed quality hot food to our community. This was well received by the community and we look forward to hosting another food truck soon across the street from the Compare grocery, in the heart of Wyandanch. Good people doing great work!
December 19th is our Christmas distribution and anyone who wants to join in the distribution is welcome. We are in need of new toys and Arts and Craft sets for 10 to 12 year old girls. You can drop off at the Outreach Center at any time or I will come pick up.
The Outreach is looking for a Salesforce CRM SME (subject matter expert) to volunteer a few hours to help us to do some basic data mining. Please contact me directly if you have any questions. Our administrator moved down South to warmer weather.
As you can see, the Outreach is composed of many disparate religions and philosophies, working together with a common goal of helping those who are less fortunate.
The Outreach Center will be celebrating our 50th Year Anniversary in a few months! More to follow.
